COOKBOOK DESIGN
Chef José Artur Cabral has published a culinary book, A Arte de Cozinhar com Amor ( The Art of Cooking with Love). It contains 500 recipes of Azorean/ Portuguese dishes.
I shot about 200 photos for the cover and many recipes. The rest of the hi-res photos were shot by the Chef.
I did all the graphic design and cookbook layout.
The first chapter is dedicated to his late mom, where he shares 30 of her recipes. The launching of the book took place in his hometown of Lagoa, São Miguel in the Azores. The book is already being sold in bookstores in Portugal and soon will be online.
Congratulations to José Artur on this amazing accomplishment, a dream of a lifetime!
Here are some pages with my photography and layout design.

STAGE BACKDROP DESIGN - QUINTAL DA MÚSICA - PRAIA, CABO VERDE
Quintal da Música, also known as 5tal da Música, is a renowned cultural venue located in the Plateau district of Praia, Cape Verde is celebrated for its vibrant blend of traditional Cape Verdean music and cuisine
Established in 2001, Quintal da Música serves as a hub for promoting Cape Verdean music, offering a platform for both established and emerging artists. The venue regularly features live performances of genres such as batuque, funaná, and coladeira, showcasing the rich musical heritage of the islands. Notable musicians like Cesária Évora and Ildo Lobo have graced its stage, contributing to its reputation as a cornerstone of Cape Verdean culture.
From 2011 to early 2013, I was the house drummer there. When the owner learned that I was also a graphic designer, she later commissioned me in 2015 to create a new stage backdrop.
The design features a sleek and monochromatic musical theme set against a solid gray background. On the left side, there's a stylized, hand-drawn white outline of a saxophone, flowing with graceful curves and subtle detailing. The saxophone is angled slightly upward, and from its bell, a stream of musical notes seems to burst forth, trailing across the background from left to right in dynamic, wave-like motion. These notes vary in size and shape, suggesting movement and rhythm.
The design was printed on vinyl, installed... and still hangs there to this day.
